About us

Trees chosen for
the ground they
are going into.

Perth soils are hydrophobic, low in nutrient and hot for five months of the year. Everything we stock and every service we offer is built around that one problem.

Most trees that die in Perth gardens were doomed at the point of purchase. Someone picked a variety off a bench because it looked good that day, took it home to grey sand that repels water, dug a hole the size of the pot and hoped. It leafs out through winter, struggles through its first summer, and by the second February it is firewood. Perth Trees Direct was built to interrupt that sequence.

We supply more than a hundred varieties across fourteen categories, from a dwarf lemon for a courtyard pot to a semi-mature specimen craned into a finished landscape. Everything is grown and assessed against AS 2303:2018 — the Australian Standard for landscape tree stock — which governs trunk taper, canopy balance and, most importantly, root development. It is the difference between a tree that establishes and a root-bound one that never gets going.

Beyond supply we install, maintain, treat pests and disease, weed, feed, condition soil and mulch. Every onsite consultation comes with a soil analysis and a written recommendation for improving it, because in most of this city the soil is the actual problem and the tree is just what gets blamed.

If we do not stock what you are after, we will find it. Years of connections through the WA nursery trade mean we can usually track down a variety, a grade or a quantity that is not on the site — often at a better price than you would get chasing it yourself.

How we operate

Four things we
don’t compromise on.

The right tree, or none

We will talk you out of a species that cannot work in your spot, even when we have it in stock and you have your card out.

Graded to the standard

Every tree assessed against AS 2303:2018 — trunk taper, canopy balance and root development, not just how it looks on the day.

Soil first

Every onsite consult includes a soil analysis and a written recommendation. Fixing the ground beats replacing the tree.

We will go and find it

Not in the range? Our connections across the WA nursery trade mean we can usually source it, and usually cheaper than you can.

Where we deliver

Across the metro,
door to door.

We deliver everything we sell throughout the Perth metropolitan area, from the northern corridor down to the southern suburbs and out to the hills. Freight is quoted per order rather than hidden in the tree price.

Not open for in-person visits due to biosecurity requirements. Keeping stock isolated is how pests and disease are stopped from moving between sites — so everything comes to you.

  • Northern corridor — Joondalup, Wanneroo, Hillarys, Yanchep
  • Central and coastal — Stirling, Cambridge, Cottesloe, Fremantle
  • Eastern suburbs and the hills — Bayswater, Kalamunda, Mundaring
  • Southern suburbs — Canning, Melville, Cockburn, Rockingham
  • Outside the metro? Ask — we will price the freight honestly

From the sites we’ve planted

We had no idea what would survive on our block. They talked us through the soil, gave us a shortlist of five and explained why everything else was a bad idea. Two years on, all six trees are away.
Rachel T. Homeowner, northern suburbs
Ordered ten screening trees on the Tuesday, delivered Thursday, and they walked me through spacing over the phone before I put a shovel in. The row has already closed up along the back fence.
Marcus D. Homeowner, southern suburbs
They sourced a variety nobody else in Perth had, at a better price than the one nursery that could get it. That is the whole reason we keep going back for client jobs.

How buying works

Four steps, in order,
every order.

The order matters. Skip the first conversation and you buy the wrong tree; skip the last one and you plant the right tree badly.

  1. 01

    Tell us the spot

Send a photo, the aspect and roughly how much room there is. Half the job is ruling out species that will never work there.

  2. 02

    We match the tree

A shortlist that suits your soil, sun and space — with the mature size stated up front, not buried in the fine print.

  3. 03

    Delivered to you

Door-to-door across the metro area. Root ball intact, canopy protected, delivery window confirmed beforehand.

  4. 04

    Planted, or guided

We install it properly — pit, stake, mulch, water-in. Or you plant it and we hand you the guide that tells you how.

Not sure what will work?

Tell us the spot. We’ll tell you the tree.

Send a photo, your suburb and roughly how much room there is. You will get a shortlist that suits the soil and the sun, with delivered prices. Replies within two business days.
